The Beyond Bolac Catchment Action Group (BBCAG) continues to show its unwavering commitment to the restoration of Lake Bolac. In collaboration with community members, the group has forged a new vision following the successful Lake Bolac Restoration Community Forum held in March this year. This vision statement sets a promising long-term perspective for the lake’s rejuvenation.

During the forum, participants engaged in a visioning exercise, imagining Lake Bolac as it could be in 2050. They crafted postcards to friends, describing the lake’s future splendour. These creative insights were gathered and distilled into ten compelling visions. Common themes emerged, highlighting a vibrant community, a thriving economy, diverse recreational opportunities, and healthy ecosystems.

Utilising an online survey, forum participants voted for their preferred vision. The winning statement, “Restoring Lake Bolac, Revitalising Our Future,” envisions a thriving lake, a connected community, and a landscape in balance for generations to come.  In July, the Beyond Bolac Catchment Action Group committee endorsed this vision statement, which will guide future initiatives aimed at restoring Lake Bolac.

With the vision firmly in place, Beyond Bolac CAG and community members are now focusing on proposed actions. The priority is to align actions with the vision for Lake Bolac, ensuring that every step taken supports the lake’s revitalisation.

To assist this process, Beyond Bolac CAG, in collaboration with the Eel Festival, will be hosting a morning walk around Lake Bolac from the Boat Shed to Hamilton Hwy (approx. 3km) on Sunday 29 March 2026, which will be the final event of the Lake Bolac Eel Festival. This event is not just a chance to appreciate the lake’s serene beauty but also an opportunity to discuss the future actions to rejuvenate this cherished natural haven. A free BBQ lunch will be provided for all participants, so don’t miss out on this opportunity to be part of a positive transformation!

The Lake Bolac Restoration Community Forum took place on Saturday, March 22, to discuss the revitalisation of Lake Bolac.
